A diet free of cow's milk products - what to eat and how to cook? | Linda's design room Kitchen
A short time ago on Twitter asked if someone would be interested in my experience almost a year living without cow's milk and all dairy products. The overwhelming response to the question really surprised me! It turns out we have a lot of - people who consumed dairy products should be limited or excluded altogether. Reasons to each their own: some are lactose intolerant, some (as in my case) - breast design room feeding child, who at the time was allergic to cow's milk, the mother design room should not consume dairy products. Of course, there are also cases when it is a personal choice, like the exclusion of gluten-containing design room products from their diet.
From the outset, I would emphasize the fact that lactose intolerant and allergic to cow's milk and its products are two completely different things. In the first case, you can use products that contain no lactose (lactose free). Second design room - you can use anything that did not come from a cow (sheep and goat products design room are allowed). * Go into the medical aspects, but will focus directly on how and what to do from the culinary point of view - what and where to buy, what to cook and how to eat.
A bit of my story - when my boy was little more than a month, suspicions arose that are allergic to cow's milk, so the doctor recommended experimental basis to exclude from the diet of cow's milk products and see if the situation improves (child pushed much milk and was' blocked design room 'spout). After a few days I saw that the doctor was right - health stabilized and I realized that the regime without cow's milk in my life is here to stay. I want to appease all the times my mother, who might have, or will have to face a similar situation - such a diagnosis does not mean that the child will always have this allergy. I slowly started to introduce milk products on our menu around 9 months of age (start design room with whipped cream, then yogurt, then everything else), and now 13 months both eat all your heart's content and no signs of allergies are no longer!
More generally, two things - diet free of cow's milk is more expensive than the food. Second - this year bezpiena discovered and learned design room many things that I use and enjoyment now. Every cloud your silver lining :)
So - not anything that is cow's milk or cow's milk contains. This applies to all dairy products - cheese, yogurt, cheese. And the milk powder, whey powder, skimmed milk powder, etc.. Why do I guess? Because design room it is these are the ingredients that are found in many commercially available products, which at first seems very "innocent" - biscuits, bread, mayonnaise, etc.. It is therefore very important to read the product formulations and packaging to learn which products are "green list" and who - the "red".
Now for the pleasant - unlike lactose intolerance incidental to the exclusion from the diet of cow's milk, goat's and sheep's remaining design room products. This is a big plus. Up until last summer, did not know how tasty goat butter and cottage cheese as well may be substituted with parmesan cheese ripened design room sheep. I tried to taste the almond and soy milk. In other words, seeking and got to this new world.
From the beginning of goat products: excellent goat butter you can buy "large" Maximus (150 g pack costs approx. 1.70 EUR); Latvian-produced goat milk products (including design room yogurt, very good quality goat cheese) once or twice a week (depending on season) can both buy and book on green store "Green Cow" Liberty design room Street, 69th hard goat cheeses can be found in the greatest choice "Gastronome" store, but is a normal choice of Rimi. soft goat cheese - goat cheese beloved of me is still "Livi" goat cheese design room balls. Is the most economical to buy a large jar (cost about 6 euro) and generally did Stockmann Delicatessen (small jars are also found in Rimi). Another great in the Netherlands produced goat cheese with sliced puck on weight can look Rimi cheese stand); goat milk carton (though far pasteurize and out of the refrigerator design room tipped) a half liter pack sold Rimi stand on an almond and soy milk; Biological goat (made in Germany) available in stores and SKY 'Orange Cash & Carry "- suggest that, very good and pleasant taste.
